Moove Motion Fitness Oakdene
My experience with Moove Oakdene has been extremely disappointing, and unfortunately it has only gotten worse over time.
My original issue began when I was instructed to leave the gym because I was carrying a small duffel bag, despite arrangements having previously been made regarding my training equipment and bag. I understand that gyms have rules, and I respect that. However, when exceptions or arrangements have been discussed and agreed upon, they should be honoured. What concerned me most was not only the decision itself, but the attitude with which it was handled. I found the staff to be disrespectful, dismissive, and unwilling to have a reasonable conversation.
Over the following months, I made numerous attempts to contact both gym management and Moove regarding my concerns. Despite seven months of trying to resolve these issues, I received little to no meaningful communication. As a paying member, I expected at least an acknowledgement of my concerns, but instead I felt ignored.
What became increasingly frustrating was the apparent inconsistency in how rules were enforced. In my experience, some individuals appeared to be allowed privileges that others were denied. This created the impression that policies were not being app**** equally to all members.
The locker room also did not inspire confidence from a security perspective, yet members are expected to leave their belongings there because bags are not permitted on the gym floor. This became particularly frustrating given my concerns regarding the inconsistent application of gym policies.
The most recent development that prompted me to update this review was the introduction of a ladies-only training section. While I fully support creating a comfortable and private training environment for women, this change resulted in male members no longer having access to the only hip thrust and glute kickback machines available in the facility.
When concerns were raised regarding this change, the response I received was that “real men squat.” I found this comment dismissive, unprofessional, and completely inappropriate. Different exercises serve different purposes, and members should be able to raise concerns about equipment access without being mocked or stereotyped. If a member takes the time to raise a legitimate concern, they deserve a respectful response regardless of whether management agrees with them.
This interaction reinforced my broader concern regarding the culture within the gym. Throughout my membership, I often felt that member concerns were not taken seriously and that feedback was treated as an inconvenience rather than an opportunity for improvement.
The gym does have excellent equipment, and that is perhaps its strongest selling point. However, good equipment alone cannot compensate for poor communication, inconsistent policy enforcement, dismissive staff behaviour, and a lack of meaningful engagement with member concerns.
What I found most disappointing is that at every level, whether dealing with staff, management, or attempting to escalate concerns, the general attitude seemed to be that if members were unhappy, they could simply join another gym. While that may be true, it is not an attitude that demonstrates appreciation for loyal members.
After everything that has occurred, I have cancelled my membership and my notice period concludes at the end of June 2026. This decision was not based on a single incident but rather a long series of unresolved issues, poor communication, and negative experiences.
I am genuinely disappointed because the facility has the potential to be excellent. Unfortunately, my experience has been overshadowed by what I believe to be poor management, inconsistent treatment of members, and a lack of accountability when concerns are raised.
To prospective members: the equipment may be impressive, but I strongly encourage you to consider the overall member experience, staff professionalism, and management culture before joining.
I cannot recommend Moove Oakdene based on my experience, and I will not be returning once my membership ends.
