Mooiplaas Wedding Venue gives 75% of guests FOOD POISONING!
Beautiful place, but just soo unfortunate that 3/4 of all the guests got food poisoning from their food. The guests were vomiting all over and sleeping on the grass because of the food poisioning. They don't want to take any responsibility and just such a dissapointment. Will never ever recommend this place to any one. The waiters were *********** and were not trained at all! The havest table stiod outside in the sun for four hours before the guests could start eating! We are still recovering from the Salmonella that we got. Such a disappointing experience.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I apologise for the late reply, I only became aware of your comments very recently.
Indeed, we are aware of the mentioned incident. At the time we took into account the seriousness of the situation and immediately made a decision to not only investigate the situation ourselves, but to also appoint an independent Food Safety Inspector with more than thirty years’ experience. I am not sure that you are aware of this?
We followed all the set-out protocols advised to us. As we were dependent on contact sharing from the guests, we managed to contact 87 people present at the event. 68 people were willing to complete the questionnaire. Unfortunately, many people declined completing the questionnaire as they did not fall ill. Unfortunately, I cannot find your contact amongst the guests that was supp**** to us. Can you please confirm that you were indeed at the wedding or are you basing your rating on hearsay?
Since you rated Mooiplaas venue I feel that you are intitled to the facts from both sides and not from hearsay only. This is a breakdown of the findings as set out in the inspector’s report. We confirm having offered free access to the report to guests but have received no request thus far.
a) There were a total of one hundred and fourteen (114) people present at the wedding. This included service providers and staff.
b) A total of sixty-eight (68) completed questionnaires were received back. A total of twenty-eight (28) people complained of symptoms associated with food poisoning. One (1) child was sick, but as per her mother’s account, this was due to over-eating, and she showed no symptoms of food poisoning after vomiting.
c) There was no correlation to be found between the food poisoning incident and the forty-five (45) different dishes and canapes served during the event.
d) There were a group of guests that made use of the private lodge facility to stay over on the Friday and Saturday night. The private Lodge is a self-catering lodge and Mooiplaas Venue has no involvement whatsoever with the catering at the lodge. The catering is usually provided by guests themselves. Of the twenty-eight people (28) that complained from food poisoning symptoms, twenty-six (26) people were present at the private lodge prior to the wedding taking place. The two remaining guests that were not present at the Lodge stayed over at a separate private lodge in the area. Those two guests were also the only two people that became ill from the group of the two families, although they all attended the wedding.
It is very important to look at the data. Twenty-four point five (24.5) percent of all the guests that attended the wedding had symptoms of food poisoning. Furthermore, ninety-two point eight (92.8) percent of this figure are represented by guests present at the private lodge prior to the wedding or 26 out of 28 guests. It is clear and undeniable that the source of the food poisoning originated at the Private lodge and not at Mooiplaas wedding venue itself.
I think it is dangerous and irresponsible to make wild allegations, without considering all the facts. I can also assure you that we at Mooiplaas take great pride of our venue and how it is operated.
