Poor Customer Service

I contacted the above company (Moodley Movers) to move certain possessions from Durban to Johannesburg. While the price was reasonable, the entire duration of the move was plagued by issues and excuses.

I first allowed an extension of time to them because they were "running late" and we agreed on a new date. As the hours wore on, on the date agreed, I received no status of where the truck was and why it was late. I eventually had to phone Prega, as he would not answer messages, and inquire as to what was happening.

I was told that the truck was late and I would have to wait. No apology was offered, merely excuses about other clients not paying. Regardless of this, I allowed them to collect the goods at around 8 pm on the agreed date, some 8 hours late.

I was informed that the truck would arrive in the afternoon of the next day. I was prepared to wait for the truck as it was arriving on a Saturday afternoon and I didn't have anywhere I needed to be.

The afternoon arrived and I had not received any word from Prega. Again, messages went unanswered and now, being a skeptical person, I was worried that my possessions wouldn't actually reach their destination and that I had been duped.

Finally, I received a message in the middle of the afternoon to say that the truck had been delayed and would arrive in the early evening. I was impatient but I could do nothing but agree.

The hours drew on and again, I lost contact with Prega, who would disappear for hours on end and provide no status update on the whereabouts of the truck unless begged to.

Finally, after over 12 hours of waiting, the truck arrived at 2am on the Sunday, 1 day before starting my new job with the items delivered having been scratched and damaged and after I had to do the majority of the moving of the items from the truck to the house as the driver and the 2 delivery men were too tired to help.

I found myself running from the truck to the house, massive load in hand, in order that I might speed up the process of getting my possessions into my house.

All in all, this was an absolutely disastrous experience and I would not recommend this company to anybody else. This is my recommendation: if you have items you actually care about, rather take some extra time in deciding who you use to move them because you become completely powerless in this situation.

To be honest, I was angry that I had to give them a star, but unfortunately, there is no "0-star" option.
