Pool still not complete 1 year later

As a family we decided to put in a pool so that we could keep our kids home.We were very aware of the ****s that were going around of swimming pool contractors whom come in and take people’s money and leave them with a whole in their yard that they home owners then have to get another contractor in to come finish , so we did our homework and we were sure that we covered all our bases

Our swimming pool contractor MR WILBERT PIKARAI GOTA – owner of Modern Pools , was referred by a close family friend , whom had just had a contractor also take her money and left her stranded m therefore we thought we had nothing to worry about . Mr Gota also provided me with an extensive list of references and I personally spoke to about 5 of these references , whom were pleased with his work and apparently called him back on various occasions to do more work with them. In hindsight I think he may have arranged these references now .

So, when we got the quotation from Mr Gota on the 29 March 2016 we were pleased with his references and the quote he gave .We still needed to save a bit more , so we continued to chat to Mr Gota via whatsapp and made a few changes to the requirements here and there .

On the 29 October we paid Mr Gota his first payment of R25 000 and he came to work 29 October 2017 , he promised that we will be swimming before the 25 December 2016 , needless to say , we still have a huge hole in our yard , almost 1 year later and Mr Gota remains absent .

After the payment was made Mr Gota was not on site for most of the time and left 2 of his untrained workers to attempt jack hammering the rocks in my yard , which did not work as these guys were not trained and hence struggled for days to clear the rocks. Mr Gota then stopped coming to work as from the 6 November and did not return until the 18 January , having spent all the money that we paid as the first payment , even though the initial agreement was that he would use of his capital to start the project .

His absence persisted with various excuses of his son being in hospital and having to help a friend whom was stranded , where he was actually completing other jobs and instead of taking that capital and using it to finish my project Mr Gota was rather continuing as if this project did not exist

As an attempt to get the job done and Mr Gota out of our hair , we paid him an additional R15000 and R10000 , but still he has not come through to complete the job

I want to warn everyone about Mr Wilbert Pikarai Gota , so that they do not suffer the inconvenience and disappointment that I have suffered for the last year

Mr Pikarai subsequently came back to tile , which has not been completed.He also came and did the Marbelite and filled the pool with water ....There are quite a few cracks in the marbelite and we are loosing a lot of water. The water has been left for about 2 weeks now and there is still no pump or filter or backwash connections .....

Next month will be 1 year , since he started this project .....for which he promised would be completed in 6 weeks
