I am writing regarding a repair assessment conducted on my client's cellphone at your George branch.
My client booked the phone in for an assessment and damage report. When he collected the device, he was charged R998.01. He was under the impression that this amount covered the assessment, the requested damage report, and the labour involved in diagnosing the fault.
After the assessment, we submitted the claim to his insurer. When my client was dissatisfied with the insurance payout, we sought further clarification and discovered that the phone had allegedly been "repaired." However, my client maintains that the phone was never repaired, as it still does not switch on.
I subsequently contacted your office and was informed that the current fault lies with the logic board, which I was advised is not repairable. This raises serious concerns, as my client was charged for the replacement of a screen, yet the device remains non-functional and the underlying fault appears to be unrelated to the screen.
I was then advised that the phone could be rebooked and sent to Cape Town for further repairs. However, it is unreasonable to expect my client to pay for repairs that have not resolved the issue and then incur further inconvenience and potential costs to address a fault that should have been properly diagnosed from the outset.
We request a prompt response and a fair resolution to this matter, including consideration of a refund for the charges incurred.
