Faulty 2 hours old phone not swapped or repaired...

This morning I bought a cellphone from PEP in Festival Mall, Kempton Park. After researching the internet I found the phone I wanted, a Mobicel Epic Pro @ R 1190.00. I went with my girlfriend at about 9 am, there are 3 PEP in the mall, the PEP cell, pep Home and the normal PEP, all 3 selling phone. The first 2 had no stock but the normal PEP had. I bought it, I asked the sale lady just to switch it on, it worked and happily I took it home to swap with my existing 5 years old Huawei. Once at home, I made sure that the charger was on, before that I inserted my sim card and my SD card from the old to the new. All good, setup the phone, installed the banking app, whatsup and the restore of my data... then, to make sure it worked i sent a message on Whatsup to my girlfriend and all was good, she rep**** was ok, she received the message. Now I decided to send her a picture as the reason of the updated phone was because the old one had some focus issues with the camera. Hold and behold, when I tried to get a photo of me, whatsup froze. I went out eventually, retried, same thing. So I tried to take a normal photo and there is where the bad news came: "Can't connect to the camera" was the message. I restarted the phone, just in case, but the problem was still there. So I decided to test other things, as I knew the network and the Wi-Fi was working, all I found beside the camera was the torch not working. Armed with my purchase slip, this about 2 hours after the purchase, I returned to PEP. I tried to tell the lady, Agreement was her name, the manager I assume, but when she looked at the phone, she noted something I did not notice before, a kind of stain of light grey on an otherwise white background, a little like a "spill". I know that a cracked screen normally is black lines and black spill, and the fact that in the previous 2 hours I did not either drop or swim with the phone and the faulty cameras and torch, i was quite assured the unit would be swapped or at the very most checked and repaired. A 2 hours old phone was not a cool thing to be useless. NO, the lady took the phone in the back and returned after few minutes and told me the phone has been damaged and there is nothing she can do. If was only the camera, no problem, but the screen, which by the way I never noticed as you cannot see anything wrong with the normal blue wallpaper it uses, so because of the screen that was not even my complaint in the first place, I found myself with a faulty phone and PEP telling me to take a hike. Please Note, no damage or scratch is otherwise visible, only after another look to the screen, I notice "fingerprints" on the INSIDE of the screen, which obviously you cannot remove unless, I guess, you remove the screen itself? If this is the kind of service you get from PEP when you buy a phone, well, stay away from them. Probably they are the dumping ground for second or third choice in phone quality. NO MORE PEP or MOBICEL. Regards Bruno
