MMS: MULTI MAINTENANCE AND STRUCTURAL- very disheartened. 😔

I had the bad experience of using a building contractor whom clearly doesn't know much about building. To begin I had to pay 50% upfront before any work could commence. Then there would be days of delay where the workers would come to site and nothing could be done because material hadnt been delivered. The workers were then upset because they werent being paid. They were being told that I hadnt paid yet, however every single payment asked for I paid straight away. (My proof is in the messages and bank reciepts I have.) It took 5 months to build a one bedroom granny cottage. Nothing fancy, very small. The place is still not 100% complete. The roof where the wall meets hasnt been plastered so when the wind blows it causes an effect where the trap door in the ceiling lifts up and slams down. Also birds and rats can now get through these gaps. None of the doorways are square. The vents dont line up, there are already settling cracks on the walls, they never plastered properly as there is an area in the lounge where u can actually see the brick and wire. The sink in the bathrooms plumbing was not installed correctly and we now have to wipe the floor everytime we use the sink as it leaks out the drain pipe. When the concrete was poured on the stairs they damaged the drain pipe for the bathroom shower and sink waste water so now everything is constantly wet in the front of the outbuilding. They never put in the concrete drain block that prevents water running out the drain, so there too, its constantly wet from the waste water of both the kitchen and bathroom. The front driverway was made too high and because of this my car hots the front bumper when I drive up from the road. As well as the fact that they concreted over a telkom fiber box which had to be dug up by telkom the very next day, so now I have a lovely hole in my front pavement area. I have told the guy many times to come and sort everything out, to which nothing has been done. Bearing in mind he made sure he got his full pay. (My not realising it would come back and bite me.) His reasoning for not having come back yet is that he needs to work where he is getting paid in order to get money to come back and complete the job. Then what the heck did I pay him for if not to complete the job?? Then I had gates made up by him, which are still not fitted. They were at galvanizing for 3 weeks, came back for 2 weeks before he attempted to fit them, which he couldn't as the latches were siezed due to the galvanizing. He had them come back and fetch the gates so as to sort out the problem and it has been now another 3 weeks of no gates. I had my ***friend phone him and tell him I want the gates fitted this week or I need to be reimbursed. To which he told my ***friend the gates are not his problem and we think we clever, he will show us. Whatever this is meant to mean. 🤷♂️ So please if u are looking to build do ypur homework first. Make sure u get a registered, qualified builder. Make sure they are registered with the NHBRC.
