Terrible workmanship and behavior from MJS Venture owner and team
We would like to lay a complaint against Mr. Muhammed Khan, owner of MJS Venture for withholding payment to us for the total amount of R7750, which comprised of a full payment to him for the supply and installation of our TV lounge cabinets (R5000), and a 50% deposit for the supply and installation of our bathroom vanity unit (R2750). At the outset, he told us that the units would be ready in 2 weeks. He broke multiple promises to have the units installed by the 14th and subsequently 20th of December 2018. His explanations as per were inconsistent, as he explained that the supplier of the boards did not have the gloss black boards. However when we called them in December they confirmed that they have always had stock. After futile efforts of him not meeting agreed timelines, constantly changing timelines, and excuses, we cancelled the order on 19th of December 2018. He confirmed verbally and in writing on the 19th of December 2018 that he would provide us with a full refund which he has thus far not delivered on. He did advise on the 16th of January 2019 that the supplier is working on the refund. On subsequent asking on 28th January 2019 he advised that there is a 20% handling fee which was not agreed to previously. Despite numerous attempts to contact him our messages have been ignored and not answered and no indication of when payment will be made has been provided.
After notifying him that we will be taking legal action if he did not pay, we have now been issued an Invoice on the 30th of January 2019 for R12550. We have no intention of paying this as it contains items that we were already quoted on and fully paid for or items that he had agreed would be free or included in the quote. He left the site almost one and a half months ago and I already asked for and settled the final Invoice in December. He has not been able to supply any evidence of where the quotation and approval for these amounts can be found. We fully settled the outstanding amount in December as per his correspondence as he stated that he required the funds to pay his workers. Despite misgivings expressed we paid him in good faith for incomplete, and sub-par work (there are numerous examples of this which including breaking the front glass on our Smeg stove and was not even aware that one of his guys did this despite being in the house at the time, shower installed *****ed meaning we will have to drill new holes and re-tile, water does not flow down shower drain after tiling, damaged toilet seat, damaged bathroom sink as well as leaking after installation, damaged kitchen gate wall, cornices not put straight, silicone items coming off after one week, windows with gaps etc., it is actually going to cost us more money to replace and fix all of these mishaps which we have not claimed for). All we expect in return is the money that he is holding ********ly thereby breaking his word. We found his work to be unprofessional and lacking in time and project management.
We are laying this complaint as he is refusing to behave ethically, professionally, and lawfully. We would like to protect other consumers from experiencing such behavior and being **********.
