Mark du Preez M&J Renovations -Proceed With Caution Based on My Experience

Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend M&J Renovations or Mark du Preez. What started as a straightforward renovation project turned into a lengthy and frustrating process characterized by poor communication, delays, and ongoing disputes over pricing. During the course of the project, I received 3 quotations which were subsequently revised (after starting the work), with the explanation that the original quotes had been underpriced and that additional funds were required to complete the work. Communication was, in my experience, Pathetic! There were many occasions when calls and messages went unanswered, and obtaining updates on progress was often difficult. Work on site appeared to be inconsistent, with short working hour periods on certain days and no shows on others and little clarity regarding timelines and completion dates. Unfortunately, I was also dissatisfied with aspects of the workmanship. Despite the project being completed, I continue to experience roof leaks and other issues which I believe should have been resolved as part of the work undertaken. The most disappointing aspect of the entire experience was that, from my perspective, the only way to secure completion of the outstanding work was to engage an attorney and incur additional legal expenses in order to obtain what I understood to be the contracted deliverables. This added unnecessary stress, cost, and delay to the project. I have retained documentation, including quotations, WhatsApp communications, and camera footage relating to the project, which support the concerns outlined above. In summary, based on my personal experience, the project was marked by poor communication, disputed pricing, delays, and workmanship concerns. I would not choose to use this contractor again and would encourage prospective clients to conduct thorough due diligence before engaging their services.
