No life cover after 7 months for a father of 7

I am completely and utterly disappointed in Miways service and lack of regard for me and my children. My wife passed away in October 2021 and even though I submitted all the information for funeral cover to be paid, when the time came, I was forced to bury her using money from from own pocket and loans from family members. 7 months later, I am now struggling for them to pay the life cover. I've been calling and following up to no avail. It's almost asif they are trying to find every possible excuse not to honour their obligation to pay the claim. I am a single father of 7 children, my baby is just 6 months old (yes my wife passed away when he was just 1 month old). I honestly don't even think these people care about my circumstances. They are all smiles when I'm paying my premiums on the many policies I hold with them, but when I am at my direst moment, there is just no support, no reply and broken promises.

To anyone considering Miway, please think twice. I am writing here so that others can learn from my and my kids experience which was horrible.

Hi there.

The communication remains the same “waiting for files from the hospital” how long does this process take? Surely not 7 months?

Good day Ethion

The turn-around times for claims finalisations are largely affected by the time that it takes to obtain all relevant claim documents.

Claim investigations may also prompt requirements for additional documents. In many cases, these documents are provided by third parties who also have their own processes around POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act) and PAIA (Promotion of Access to Information Act).

However, we endeavour to keep you updated of every step of the process and are committed to providing you with timely service.

Kind regards

On the website it says it takes about 2 months if certain documentation is outstanding. It’s unacceptable, I hurried my wife and your reply does not even mention a form of “condolences” you people can’t even sympathize with my situation.
