When claiming and told you are not covered....
I recently had an accident in my home with one of my devices and then claimed for it and was told.....claim denied based on no cover.
My policy wording is this:
"MiHomeStuff MiHomeStuff refers to all personal belongings kept inside my home and outbuildings at the address noted on my Coversheet, which belong to me or to any members of my household. Outbuildings, whether they are separate from the main house or not, include garages, domestic quarters, garden cottages and storerooms."
MiWay's response:
"WHAT AM I COVERED FOR UNDER MiHOMESTUFF? Accidental breakage only of television sets, mirrors or glass forming part of any furniture - There is no cover for accidental damage to any other items, appliances or furniture"
Accidents are not planned, but one plans for if they do happen and that is why people take out insurance, so to now be told about the hidden conditions and what is no only covered is actually disgusting and maybe I should be re-looking who I trust my belongings with and that they actually would cover me in the case of an incident, loss or breakage.
I have always believed MiWay to be fair and of great help in the past, so this outcome comes at quite a big shock and I am not a very happy client.
I do not claim when not required but wish to have an item, I cherish, replaced based on damage from within my home and should by right be covered for this item, based on the above highlighted text.
Am I missing something or have just been paying a premium which actually is for over covering in case of damage and then get told actually that list is limited then work out that value and should have maybe be paying less of a premium??? Apart from this one still has to pay extra premiums for MiMovables, which we need to specify....
Not your best work MiWay and will definitely be checking my options.
