Unhappy Client of Miway - 14 of uninterupted loyalty
I was involved in a third-party liability accident. Victoria Baloyi successfully captured my claim on March 6, 2025. Then, on March 11, after opting for a disclaimer, the difference was paid minus the access (R 5000), which was supposed to be covered and claimed from the other driver's insurance.
Two months later, on May 18, I inquired from Victoria Baloyi whether my access had been claimed back from the other insurance. No response was received until I forwarded another email on May 21 2025, stating that if I did not receive feedback by 14:00, I would be taking my business elsewhere. She then provided a response indicating that nothing had been done regarding my access. It was then that Kgomotso Maraba contacted me about my access on June 10, 2025, nearly three months after the disclaimer was processed. Subsequently, I received a call from a rude manager named Karishma Maharaj, who seemed to deem me unnecessary. I vehemently dealt with her; she promised to call me on that same day, but she never did.
Since then, I have received fragments of information that don't provide any concrete evidence. The last straw was when I was requested to send photos of the accident on August 19, 2025, which the third party is requesting from Miway. Meanwhile, these are the photos that Miway used to assess the damage cost for my vehicle. Where are the images I have sent to process my claim?
MiWay's level of incompetence and lack of urgency has been extraordinary. I went and checked their management composition; I saw that there has been a total makeover, confirming to me why certain things are happening. We are no longer important; we are just a number. It has been more than six months for a claim of less than R13 000 to be settled. Today is August 25.
I don't want to draw attention to my race, but if it had been a white person or an Indian, this matter would have been resolved quickly. I do not fit the criteria; hence, no one feels compelled to see the need to settle this matter, considering that I am a paying client. They will debit my premium without hesitation on September 1, but when it matters most, they fall short.
At this moment, I am angry. The level of incompetence experienced thus far is incomparable. This is a friendly warning to those who intend to consider MiWay: if you want to be stressed, this is the way to go. I am glad I did not pursue my brother to join them.
Imagine a person who has been with them for 14 years feels this way; what would have happened to those who would have joined, including my brother?
Miway is no longer caring for their clients...these days, it is about themselves. The start has dropped drastically, and they do not even care. It is business as usual. It is days like these that Rene Otto would have shaken the tables of specific individuals, because to him, we were not just a number. He understood why a client must be taken care of. The standard has fallen, and clients are taken for a ride.
Best regards,
The MiWay Team

A lady from the complaints department called me yesterday and seemed to understand my situation. She informed me that she had escalated my matter to the MD office, and Karishma Maharaj would be in contact shortly. It has been 24 hours since my last conversation with Miway; meanwhile, I was told she will be in contact in a few minutes. The situation suggests to me that we are in different time zones, confirming my assertion that I am just a number. Clearly the office of the MD is being rendered useless, given the fact that no one has called me as yet.
