Unauthorised Early Debit Order

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding an unauthorised early debit of my car insurance premium, which has caused me significant inconvenience, embarrassment and financial distress.

I have been a MiWay client for more than three years, and throughout this period I have never skipped or failed to honour my debit order. My debit order is scheduled to go off on the 20th of every month, yet I was extremely shocked to discover that the amount was deducted from my account today, 15 September, five days earlier than the agreed debit date.

I would like to understand why this happened and why my debit order was processed without any prior notification or agreement from my side. If my agreed debit date is the 20th, I expect the debit to be processed accordingly.

This could not have happened at a worse time. Today is my husband's birthday, and I had carefully planned to take him out and spoil him with the little money I had available in my account for his special day. I only discovered that MiWay had taken the money when I went to the shop to purchase his birthday gift. When I tried to pay, my card was declined because the funds had unexpectedly been deducted.

I cannot even begin to explain how embarrassed and humiliated I felt standing in the shop with my card being declined. What was supposed to be a special birthday moment turned into an extremely uncomfortable situation, and my husband ultimately had to pay for his own birthday gift.

We had also planned to go out for a meal afterwards, but the situation completely ruined our plans. We ended up going home disappointed because I was not prepared to allow my husband to continue spending his own money on himself on his birthday.

What makes this even more frustrating is that I am a loyal client who has consistently honoured my payments for more than three years. I have never given MiWay a reason to doubt that my premium would be paid on the agreed date. I therefore find it completely unacceptable that the debit was processed five days earlier without my consent or prior communication.

I also do not believe that simply reversing the debit order is an appropriate solution, as I am concerned about the potential negative consequences associated with debit order reversals and my credit profile. As someone who works in the financial services industry, I understand the importance of maintaining a good payment history and therefore cannot simply reverse the debit without considering the possible implications.

have been a loyal MiWay client for over three years and have always paid my premiums as agreed. I therefore expect this matter to be investigated urgently and resolved fairly.

I look forward to receiving a proper explanation and urgent feedback.
