TheirWay

Over the past 30 days I have learnt how important it is to do research when choosing insurance thanks to MiWay. I was involved in minor incident where my tyre burst and my cars right front suspension got a little damaged. The incident happened on Easter weekend. I lodged a claim a few days later handled by their senior Assessor I was informed who FIRSTLY promised me on the record that the assessment process would take 10 working days. Stupid me got the car towed to my home and I didn't get the details of the person who towed the car, my mistake. 10 working days past and I was informed that I couldn't not prove I was where I said the incident happened. I had informed the Assessor, who went there without me. SECONDLY he took images from the wrong side of the incident and THIRDLY he interviewed people who could not prove were at the scene of the incident on the day even though I was required to prove I was there through beacon billing. Their interviewed the security personnel at the complex I live in who confirmed my car was towed on the day. So now after proving that the incident did happen. I was informed I was dishonest about the time hence my claim was rejected. A whole lot of inconsistencies. I had the time wrong yes. But I was involved in an incident where I was the only person and I needed my insurer at the time to help me out for what I was paying for. But their didn't help. Here is why I believe they rejected the claim. I recently joined MiWay in February from Budget Insurance. I have uninterrupted insurance since 2013 with my first car. Only claim in the past three years was for windscreen damage. I had a fall out with the Assessor and I believe they were aware of this. They were informed that fixing the car would cost R 41 000. Ridiculous amount for only four broken items of which come up to R 6000 now with me having to fix my own car. They knew that if they paid I would have left because of the way I was treated during the claiming process hence they would lose out. So I have been humbled. Humbled by reality of people claiming to help you in your time of need but when comes that time they will list excuse after excuse. I was labeled a **** by the Assessor on email. A MiWay Assessor called me a ****. They told me I would get my last premium for April of which I have not received because they cancelled the policy. But I feel vindicated. I believe that they have lost money through this process and that makes me feel better. I have paid 3 premiums since joining TheirWay (MiWay) in February. They claim they will give me back 1 premium. They had to pay for the car being towed twice and also had to pay for the assessment process. In a way I feel the little guy has won. Anyone planning on joining MiWay please do your research. See how many of their claims rejections get overturned. Listen to other people's comments about them. Cheapness or disguised cheapness isn't always the best option. Otherwise you will feel it in your pocket. Thank you for the lesson MiWay.
