Their way or the HiWay

Following a car accident and the subsequent repair that unnecessarily dragged on for a number of months due to numerous omissions in the initial MiWay accessors report (the initial repair estimate contained in this report around 23k, the final repair would be around double that...which should indicate how much was missed), MiWay's response that they considered the repair to have followed 'standard industry procedure' (I'm not sure if the rest of the insurance industry would consider the missing out of key external damages in the initial report such as blown tires, cracked windscreens, collision impacted side panels etc. etc. as 'standard procedure' but that might just be me) but apparently (judging from their response to the Ombudsman) they see nothing wrong this.

With such a lack of responsibility being taken I opted to cancel my insurance policy with MiWay the 19th of December. A couple of days later I received a call informing me that I had to go through an 'exit' procedure in order to 'leave' MiWay (I'm not sure if this complies with industry regulations or the CPA but according to the people I've spoken with my cancellation letter should have sufficed).

When I was initially phoned I was unable to talk and asked them to call back at 14h00 the same day, the call never materialised. A few days after this MiWay called again and then dropped the call...they did not attempt to reach me again.

On the 29th of December they proceeded to debit my account against my written wishes. I reported the matter to the Ombudsman and ONLY THEN did MiWay find it in themselves to try reach me again, but even then I was then asked to retrieve and submit bank statements in order to get my money back...money MiWay by their own admission had no right to take...but couldn't be bothered to refund immediately without the bank statements either because they were too lazy or otherwise incapable of simply looking at their payments accounts themselves...in other words, a client asking for their money back after they *******ly debited his account was more of an irritation that something they could be bothered to drop everything and try and resolve. Shame on you MiWay, you're not playing fair.

Um...guys...I spoke to you about this last Friday at 11h04 for 11 minutes and 55 seconds....nothing came of that....before that I had to resort to reporting you to the Ombudsman and before that you simply didn't appear even vaguely interested in acknowledging the litany of mistakes (listed and sent to you) on your side so please forgive me if I'm a little unimpressed by your copy and pasted response...I'd prefer results.

Thank you MiWay, I spoke with Innocentia and appreciate the time that she took as well as the way she addressed the matter. I'm sure you'll agree that the fact that it took 10 days, a complaint to the Ombudsman, a HelloPeter complaint AND two lengthy phone calls simply to initiate an order of reimbur*****t for money that should never have been debited in the first place doesn't reflect well on MiWay at all.
