Theft Cover / Tracker

I have been a MiWay client for a while. I do not recall claiming nor missing a payment. Trouble started when I sold my vehicle and buying another one.

I did a quote on the MiWay App. When I felt that the quoted premium was out of my price range I bought elsewhere. Shortly thereafter a friendly lady by the name of Zinhle called me. I did advise her that I could not afford MiWay. She advised that she will try and see if there was anything that she could do. After taking my time and probably realising that she could not do anything in terms of a cheaper premium, she hung up on me. I decided to carry on with my life even though being hung up on is not nice at all. Despite me being very busy at the time and having lost time that I will never get back. I do not think there was anything untoward I did to warrant being hung up on.

Few days later I get a call from a friendly Anathi Ndum-Ndum from Retetion. After explaining the reasons of not wanting to proceed with MiWay, she works out a deal that make works for me. She puts me through to another friendly lady who finalised my cover. She however advises that the tracker I have might not be compatible with MiWay requirements. When Anathi calls back I advise her of this. She asked that I send her the installation certificate where she was going to liaise with car track and find out the following: 1) If the tracker I have meets MiWay’s requirements. 2) Since I’ve paid for a year’s subscription in advance if I am paying MiWay’s rates as I may be paying too much. This is on 08 September 2017 we had this conversation with Anathi. My cover was going to start o 20 September 2017. On 20 September 2017, I followed up with Anathi on email to find out if all is in order. I do not get a response. I follow up again on 23 September 2017. I do not hear anything. I follow up again on 27 September 2017. This time around I do get a response but nothing about my tracker compatibility. I send another email again and I do not hear anything. I then conclude that I did my part in ensuring that I am properly covered seeing that Anathi was not worried about it. To my surprise I get a text from MiWay on 02 October 2017 saying that I am not covered for theft or hijacking as I did not send a tracker installation certificate.

What really breaks my heart is that MiWay only cared when they were selling and trying to retain me. For over 10 days I was not covered for theft when I did my bit in ensuring that I was. I do not believe that I was once rude or wanted special treatment. I regret cancelling my previous insurance and coming back to MiWay. I do not want to think what would have happened had my vehicle been ****** or any claim for that matter.

If I was not too busy for vehicle inspection I would move back to my insurer tomorrow. If only I knew.
