Struggling to cancel policy with Miway online service

I have been trying to cancel my Miway policy (25th April) as I found a better quote. I cancelled my policy online and was under the impression that it has been cancelled as I selected the cancelation date as 30 April.

I proceeded to engage into a new insurance contract starting May 1st.

I received a message on 9 May stating that Miway has tried to contact me and phoned back immediately only to get the answering machine. I responded immediately via e-mail. I only received a call again on May 12th to find out the reason for leaving and stating that I will receive a call back later that same day.

I received nothing and when I enquired today May 16th why my debit order went off (only on the 15th when my normal debit order date is the end of the month) I was told that I required a 30 day cancelation period as stated in my policy documents.

I feel that Miway has misrepresented itself when offering the online cancelation option. Nowhere did it state a 30 day notice period during the cancelation process. They allowed met to pick a cancelation date prior to 30 day notice without a warning. I did not receive any messages telling me of the 30 day notice period. I also did not receive any calls the following two days that would have allowed me to delay my new policy.

I if received any notifications I would have gladly delayed my new policy by the required 30 days. I have now been forced to have two insurance policies at the same time (and pay for both of them)

A very disappointed “almost” previous client.
