<p>I was involved in a motor vehicle accident in October 2016. Miway authorised my vehicle to be towed as I couldnt drive it because the radiator (front bumper, boot lid and rear bumper) was damaged.</p> <p>I submitted my claim, and three days later, I received an email stating that my car (Hyundai Grandi10) was written off. With NO explanation, NO supporting documents why. Fortunately I work in the finance department in insurance, I sougth out advice from the claims department, showed them the pictures of the accident scene and they advised me to get the detailed assessment report as it all made no sense.</p> <p>I requested the report, and it returned a ridicuous amount exceeding R100k worth of repairs that deemed my vehicle a write off. I thouroughly read it; it stated that my airbags deployed, when they didn't, it spoke of damaged lights, when there were no lights damaged. The report had a combination of pictures of the exterior of my car, and the interior of another car with airbags deployed, as well as the license disc of this unknown car . </p> <p>I informed the claims handler of this error; she failed to investigate the matter & sent another incorrect report, sustaining that my vehicle was written off.</p> <p>My father went to assess the vehicle where it was towed to in Roodepoort, to find that it was already moved to salvage at Krugerdorp. He then drove to Krugersdorp to make sure it hasnt been stripped / sold already. </p> <p>A family friend gave us contact details of management at miway, and they then corrected the report, stating that it was a mistake for them to quote the repairs & write off my vehicle. Miway refused to allow me to get comparative quotations for the vehicle repairs and to appoint another independent assesor. </p> <p>Miway authorised the vehicle repairs & had my car repaired.</p> <p>Due to the finacial losses my family incurred in trying to resolve this matter & the lack of competance displayed by miway claims team, I have not & will not recommend miway as an insurer.</p> <p>I hope all first time car buyers / anyone who has car insurance reads their policies & their assessment reports in the event they are in an accident.</p>
