Silent Treatment
I had an accident. I'm disabled...permanently on crutches. Mi-Way knows this. I had an automatic vehicle. I have the rental vehicle option on my policy. I put in a claim. This part was easy. However, now I have to pay R2000 refundable deposit to rental company. Fine. I can borrow the money. Delivery fee of said rental R1650 and same amount when they collect as no Avis close to us! Then they went silent. Don't return calls. Eventually got hold of manager of claims who makes promises. Then nothing. No reply to emails. I expressed concern for taking my car to the most expensive panel beaters in our area. To no avail. They decide write off. I have to send spare keys and original papers to Mi-Way. I do that. Still no settlement paperwork or money. Car is taken to their salvage yard. According to Mi-Way they have to put you back to the position you were before the accixent, however, hefty excesses ensures I only get a pittance back on my car... I walk 40 minutes to work on crutches morning and night to the point where my shoulders give out and my hands bleed. It falls on deaf ears at Mi-Way. Then email stating my license disk expired. Needs to be renewed before they can settle. I do this and try to call them. No answer. I email. No response. Currently I'm at risk as they have my car, my original papers, signed change if ownership, all keys, license & still no money. Still no feedback. I have rented a vehicle privately from a friend just to be able to work. As I am self-employed, it's no work no pay. I use my hands for work. But they are so sore, that I struggle. How has Mi-Way put me in the same position I was before the accident? My health is in shambles and I don't have a car or money! Shame on you Mi-Way.
