Sherry-Lee Green Miway Insurance

I very sadly had the worst experience ever in my history of insurance at the age of 41 since 18 for my first car. I was previously with a broker with MUA and all my claims were handled with such ease. After my divorce and parting with my BMW I purchased a new Hyundai I20 Turbo Fluid and was so excited, but to get my car under pressure I was told to go through Miway Insurance.

I had a telephonic phone call during work hours as they could not help me after 5. I couldn't speak to them properly and had to rush through the process not really knowing what to do. I failed to hear what my excess claim would be if I had an accident. The lady helping me was lovely that would be the reason I give 1 Star, but it was a 25 min conversation that really was very tiring to rush through.

As a woman I didn't actually know what I was signing up for I just wanted my new car. My premium is a decent amount of R1084 per month since May 2023. I don't actually earn enough to afford it but none the less I made provision as it is important. Had I known I was flushing my money down the drain, I would have never considered them and will never ever refer them to anyone at all.

I had a accident at home in my parking bay during load shedding that damaged my front bumper. The claim was done in Jacobs far away from Hillcrest where I reside. Completely out the way. The assessment was fast and friendly but a good R200 travel in petrol and 1 hour and a half of time out of work spent.

I promptly got approved for my R35k claim with an excess of R25k plus R3k for being no second party. I instantly got high blood pressure and went into panic mode. When I called they were very good, but the info was as is. My questions were. Who has 28k lying around in January for a car accident ??? Not many people I know at all. So where does that leave me !!!

On top of my fury Miway took my January 2024 payment without any notification or authorisation from myself on the 21st of December 2023, my last bit of money to do shopping and survive. When I called them extremely upset they said it was a business decision they just made incase I had no funds on Jan the 1st 2024. They have also previously taken money off my account before the date I agreed on with other months prior December, which is simply unacceptable!

They then call non stop during work times and offer a service by what's-up that goes around in circles going nowhere. I even got a message asking if I would like funeral cover with them....I think I'd end up being buried without a coffin as the catch.

I am honestly so disappointed and disgusted with the service and waste of money i have spent on them. If I want an excess of 5k Id need to pay R1700. I'm sorry but I know plenty people that have better cover for far less like with Naked insurance, who I will now be contacting.

I will never even give Miway a second chance as they clearly do not value clients like me that are not rich enough to fix a car that is well known in SA part wise. I was better insured with my BMW.

I have received a kind phone call thank you, I'm interested to hear your resolution, but not optimistic or assured you will fix my problem. But none the less I will wait to hear from you. Until then my insurance policy with you I have requested remains cancelled and I will be seeking better cover that I can afford.
