Setting new conditions every day
I complained about MiWay asking unfair questions during the claiming process and the matter was resolved when I stood my ground and wanted to proceed to the Ombudsman and Consumer Protection.

I am now in the process of taking the car in for repairs to a supplier appointed by them. First MiWay tells me they cannot arrange for car hire on Thursdays and Fridays. Today, being a Wednesday I am told I must pay half of the excess up-front when it was initially given to me as an option. When I refuse to pay half of the excess up-front, I am now told that it is late in the week to take the car in for repairs and I must wait for Monday.

I am being given reasons like client change their minds about repairs shops hence they insist on a deposit and yet this supplier was appointed by them and if I had a choice, I would have appointed a supplier in Randfontein or nearby where I stay. When I explain that this is their supplier the issue now, is that in their experience suppliers will not do any work on the car if it is brought in on a Thursday as they still have to buy the parts to do the repair and must therefore wait for Monday. MiWay should change their name to OurWay as that is how they act.
Thanks for your note - Franna has called to explain why an excess has to be paid up front and we urge you to give us a shout if you need any further clarity on any further process around your claim.
Kind regards,
The MiWay Team
