Self-Inspection Feature Failure

MiWay claim that their insurance is so easy and convenient via their App but in reality the App doesn't work as claimed or advertised. I accepted a quote on my home and two vehicles with MiWay because they told me everythign could be done online. This is only partly true as the moment they have your banking details and the policy is active then comes the hidden red tape and schlep. First they instructed me to take both my vehicles to a PG Glass centre for inspection. This was neither convenient nor possible at the time so they told me that I qualify for self-inspection that can be submitted via their App. I duly downloaded the App and managed to submit the first vehicle inspection photos which were accepted - SMS notification received to that effect. However, there is no option or facility to conduct the self-inspection for the 2nd vehicle. When confronted on the issue I was told they are experiencing technical glitches with the self-inspection feature of the App and that I would have to take my vehicle to a PG Glass centre for the inspection. So much for the ease of use and simplicity of doing everything online or via their App - not much use if it doesn't work now is it? Furthermore, they happily take my premium on the as yet un-inspected vehicle but tell me that until the inspection is done the vehicle isn't actually covered. Isn't that a bit like theft, taking my money but not providing cover because their App cannot do whatthey claim it can? Not impressed with the MiWay App to date to be honest. Technology is all well and good until it doesn't work and then without so much as an apology they simply order you to take your vehicle for inspection or you aren't covered. Sort your App out - how hard can it be to accept more than one self-inspection set of photos??

We’re so sorry to hear that things didn’t go well with the self-inspection using the App. Mpumi has since been in touch to explain in more detail why you need to take your vehicle to a fitment centre for inspection.

Please be assured of our commitment to always deliver awesome service and we urge you to let us know if there’s anything else we can help with.

Kind regards,
The MiWay Team
