Second time

Dear Miway Team,

please can I have the detail of the Ombudsman as the detail Provided in the Email was incorrect

My name is Lorenzo Jayson Delate (ID: ***), and I have been a client of Miway for the past two months. Unfortunately, I am reaching out today with significant concerns regarding my policy and the recent theft of my vehicle.

To provide some background:

Previous Incident: I had a car ****** in 2020 while insured with Miway. During the investigation, it was discovered that Netstar was involved in the disappearance of my Polo GT. Despite this, Miway paid out my claim on New Year's Eve, and I moved on from Miway after the settlement.

Returning to Miway: After unsuccessful attempts to find suitable coverage elsewhere, I returned to Miway two months ago. Unfortunately, my experience this time has been far from satisfactory.

Policy Issues:

When I initially took out the policy, I clearly requested business insurance. However, the consultant sold me a personal insurance policy at R1700, despite my explicit request for business insurance.

After conducting my own inspection, I realized that I was incorrectly covered under personal insurance, not business. I attempted to contact Miway several times without success. Eventually, I drove to your office, where I was told that I could not keep the same premium, despite this being an error on Miway’s part. I was then sold a business insurance policy at a higher rate of R2400, which was more than the original amount we had agreed upon.

Tracker Issue:

Miway advised me that the existing Bidtrack tracker in my car would not work with their insurance. I was then instructed to replace the tracker, which I did, opting for Car Track.

During my conversation with Car Track, I was informed that if my car was not recovered, they would pay out R150,000 to my insurance provider. However, because I was under the personal policy instead of the business policy, I was not eligible for this payout. Had I been correctly insured under a business policy at the time of the theft, the R150,000 payout would have been applicable.

Given the above, I kindly request urgent assistance in resolving this matter and addressing the discrepancies in my coverage. I would appreciate it if Miway could review my claim, and I would like to understand how we can move forward to rectify the situation.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.

Kind regards, Lorenzo Jayson Delate ID: *** ***
