I would like to warn others about my very disappointing experience with MiWay Insurance regarding my recent claim.

After hitting multiple potholes full of water in the rain, I reported the damage based on what I could physically see at the time — two damaged rims and two flat tyres. However, once the vehicle was properly inspected by a tyre and rim specialist, it was confirmed that all four rims were damaged/buckled.

I then submitted a quotation for all four damaged rims, but MiWay refused to consider it. I was told that they will only assess the claim based on what was initially reported during the call — even though their own report states that the vehicle must be inspected before repairs.

To make matters worse, the total damage came to R5,262.12, and my excess is R350. Instead of discussing a possible settlement or partial payout, they simply rejected the claim outright because it slightly exceeds their R5,000 limit. There was no willingness to negotiate or assist in any way.

The consultants involved in my claim were Brooklyn Ndluvo and Lavanya Somai.

This experience makes it feel like MiWay looks for reasons not to pay claims, rather than fairly assessing the situation. As a client, I acted in good faith and provided updated information once a proper inspection was done — but this was completely disregarded.

I believe this is unfair and misleading, and I urge others to be cautious.
