Review of MiWay Insurance – Trust Broken After 14 Years, Directed to the Ombudsman.
Last week, I wrote a complaint about MiWay breaking my trust after 14 years of being a loyal customer. Since then, I have received two messages from MiWay. The first stated that a Dispute Specialist would handle my complaint, and the second instructed me to contact the Ombudsman. I decided to wait a week, hoping they would follow through with communication, but unfortunately, I received no further response. Today, I decided to take the step they advised—I have formally laid a complaint with the Ombudsman against MiWay Insurance for their unjust rejection of my claim. Despite being a long-standing customer, MiWay rejected my claim for damages to my solar system's inverter and battery, caused by an electrical surge. The equipment is under warranty, but the warranty doesn't cover electrical surges, and the supplier is unreachable. MiWay chose to hide behind technicalities instead of assisting me, demonstrating a lack of care and flexibility. It's clear to me now that MiWay is not committed to standing by its customers, and if this is how they handle claims. Reasons for My Complaint: Warranties Do Not Cover Electrical Surges: MiWay's decision to deny my claim based on the existence of warranties is unjustified, as the warranties do not cover damages caused by electrical surges. An electrical surge is a common cause of damage that typically falls under standard insurance coverage. The fact that the equipment is under warranty is irrelevant, given the specific nature of the damage. Unavailability of Supplier: I made MiWay aware that the company who installed and supp**** the solar system is no longer reachable. This means that I am unable to claim any support under warranty, further complicating the situation. MiWay’s failure to take this into account adds to the frustration. Lack of Support After 14 Years of Loyalty: As a loyal customer for over a decade, I expected more flexibility and assistance from MiWay. Rejecting my claim without considering the nature of the damage and my inability to reach the supplier due to circumstances beyond my control is not only unreasonable but also reflects poorly on their commitment to their customers.
