Poor Marketing scheme (****)

Please find below incident on the 06/10/2016

Agent Smanga called me on the 06/10/2016 to give me a quote on my vehicle insurance, I refused and told him I was not interested, he mentioned if he is unable to beat my current premium, MiWay will reimburse me R400, I then proceeded with the call and allowed him to give me a quote

At the end of the telephonic conversation I was then transferred to Timothy who then gave me the premium which was higher than my current insurance premium, I was then told to email my policy documents and wait 4 days

After lodging a complaint about not getting any response, I then get a reply to forward my policy documents again, which they come back with another quote after adjusting and knocking off a some of their figures to lower their premium

So in actual fact they want to view your current personal policy to better their insurance premium

My request here is to NOT be ********* to the client , claiming to beat the current insurance premium then only to request policy documents to better their own premium, that is wrong and somewhat *******

The calls are recorded so there will be proof that the amounts adjusted where not mentioned over the telephone, so now they want to lower certain figures for their own benefit

I had Outsurance call me with the same request and never had an issue with them, they could not beat my premium and gladly held up to their claim and paid me the amount

Is this a **** or a marketing scheme to waste peoples time, hoping that the premium is lower than their current plan so MiWay can get clients?

We don’t need to waste our time on calls from MiWay who are trying to scheme people into taking insurance policies with them by Falsifying they can beat your current insurance policy if not grant the client R400

If this is so, then I suggest they remove this Marketing sales tactic to prevent further dissatisfied clients

I will query this Ombudsman to find out if this is a legal sales tactic to gain clients

Client No. **********

Ref#: P ********** 7
