Poor Handling of Claim and ******* retention of personalised number plates

RE: Customer number: ********** 2 Claim Number: C864573

Dear Sir,

The above client number above and claim number bear reference. The assigned claim handler was Monique Swartz.

My reason for having this matter escalated to this level, is that I am unable to have my concerns resolved by anyone at MIWAY.

My motor vehicle claim with the above claim number was recently finalized by MIWAY. Whilst I have no issues with the outcome of the claim, I am unhappy with the treatment received from MIWAY staff:

1) ******* retention of my personalized number plate – RAJAN G-ZN – At the time of my claim being finalized I have highlighted that I wish to retain my personalized number plate. I only discovered upon taking delivery of a new vehicle that this has been retained by MIWAY, the reasons for this are unknown to me and is a violation of my rights as this property bearing my name and as such is my intellectual property. I was contacted my Monique after escalating the matter as nobody at the Call Centre could assist. I have enclosed a chat with the call centre stating that they are unable to assist and only Monique is able to provide feedback. The challenge with this is that Monique is never available on the number provided, and I think that we need to agree that the assigned claims handler process does not work. I have further requested recordings of all conversations with MIWAY staff to confirm my request.

Monique contacted me on Monday 31st July 2017 after my concerns were highlighted on Social media, and promised to contact me by Friday 04th August 2017. At the time of sending this correspondence, I have not been contacted I assume that this is in order to intentionally delay the transfer of my vehicle as the weekend is approaching.

My current situation is that MIWAY *******ly has possession of my personalized number plates, and I am driving a vehicle with a temporary permit which is due to expire shortly. If MIWAY wishes to retain my plates, I suggest a reasonable offer of compensation be made for retaining my personalized as it is part of my intellectual property.

2) My next issue is the handling of my claim, I have adhered to every single request from MIWAY and was deeply disturbed when even after MIWAY acknowledged receipt of documents submitted by myself that I receive 2 letters threatening to repudiate my claim. Being involved in a motor vehicle Collison is a traumatic experience, and one does not need the additional stress of dealing with arrogant *********** staff from an insurance company.

3) My premium on a specified accessory was based on the value specified, why was I then paid out at the depreciated value? I would like a breakdown of the method using for calculating depreciation, as well as reasons as to why depreciation is used when my premium is based on the full value of the specified accessory. I would like to be referred to the section in my policy where Depreciation is mentioned and further be referred to the supplier where the specified item can be replaced at the amount that I was paid out.

I would appreciate urgent feedback on this matter as with effect from Monday 07th August 2017 my new vehicle will be unlicensed as the temporary permit expires. Would MIWAY insure an unlicensed motor vehicle?

MIWAY should take a few lessons from the recent Mondli Madlala debacle, as the lack of feedback from MIWAY and non-adherence to timelines often finds the business wanting and frustrating clients.

Your urgent feedback in respect of the above would be appreciated.

Regards
