Policy not paid out

In 2015,nov 1,my father was shot. Whilst driving from home to work. He was with a colleague. He had a policy with MiWay, we tried claiming but we were told that it was not an accident. They even refused to pay his life cover. Yesterday, a colleague of mine told me of a similar story aswell, but to my surprise, his wife's policy was paid. Question is, how come were we labelled as not an accident whereas she was also shot and her accidental policy is paid out whereas both our loved ones died in a similar manner?? I'm not satisfied and am actually angry.
