paying for no service

All the time I thought I had car insurance but only to realise that it's useless and I was ****** with words. On the 22nd of June I had a minor knock on my car and I made accident report then followed all the procedures needed by insurance. Later the insurance report came back and it said the amount to fix the car is around R17500 and eccess is around R25000. I paid the insurance over a R1000 every month for 2 years and it is now that I realised that my eccess is over 20000. Don't know whether to cancel my insurance or seek legal assistance
