PANOROMIC ROOF DAMAGE

Travelling in pretoria R80 heard a loud bang, & pulled over the side of road. Inspected damage & discovered that front panel glass of the panoramic roof was cracked & shattered. Logged a claim with Miway, assisted by Thandeka Makama. The claim was rejected, because it was an extra and not listed in my cover sheet. Explained that the vehicle was purchased with panoromic roof. A VIN search conducted at mercedes benz parts centre, & a Miway assessor listed the panoromic roof in the model spec. This roof was installed at manufacturing stage thus the part being listed. If it was an after market add on, the roof would not be listed. I further stated that a standard item in a vehicle is an item that was fitted at manufacturing stage by the manufacturer. A conference call was made to Grand Central Motors by myself and Sanele (Thandeka superior). The sales rep initially mentioned that the panoramic roof is an optional extra on some models when asked by Sanele. When I asked whether the same panoramic roof is considered an extra when appearing as a part on its VIN search and fitted during manufacture. He answered no as it is a standard item and part of the vehicle & insured as part of vehi.
