No vehicle - no transport - MiWay will not extend rental.
My wife has a policy with MiWay. We have been with them for years and my vehicle is also insured with MiWay. Recently i purchased a new vehicle and in my second month of having it a driver hit me from behind.
The claims process was easy and everything was sorted out but the car hire service has really been an eye opener. Firstly MiWay didn't mention i would need to pay the security deposit. Secondly i had to pay for extra insurance on the hire vehicle. R500 for 30 days. MiWay said they had booked the car for 10 days, they didnt inform us that the 10 days is all they can do on our policy and anything after that is our own account. The panel beater will only be finished with my vehicle next week. When i contacted MiWay they said sorry we cant help you, now you must deal with Avis for your own account and i need to return the rental. My wife also called and asked if there is anything they can do to extend this and they told her the same thing.
My biggest problem is from tomorrow until the panel beater is finished with my vehicle we will not have a vehicle as currently we only have one vehicle. This means i will not be able to get to work nor will my wife because we carpool. I will also be unable to drop my kids off at school. Tomorrow Avis collects my vehicle and from then i have no solution of how to get to transport my family for the next week.
I cannot believe that after all this time MiWay cannot assist us. I am extremely disappointed in my MiWay and how this has gone down. Even after explaining the situation MiWay cannot help us. If my wife and myself cannot get to work next week we will lose income. To extend the hire is going to cost me R2000 which i don;t have. If anyone reads this please be well aware that this can happen to you and that you will be stuck in similar situation and MiWay certainly will not help you no matter what.
