Miway/Theirway insurance...

Hopefully you read this before considering Miway or rather their way if you consider it from their perspective because that is what it feels like.

I was happily insured with another insurance when Miway convinced me that their cheaper insurance is the way to go. Believe me, cheaper is not always better.

My vehicle broke down close to my place of work in Sandton, 75kms away from home. The way the towing company treated me was evident of how much trust the towing services have in Miway. Because the workshop, the vehicle was supposed to go to was near my home, it meant that the distance for the tow truck driver to travel was outside the normal "insured range" and thus refused to take the vehicle until i pay the remaining rands in cash. I had to leave my place of work, and accompany the tow truck driver to an ATM to withdraw the money before they would transport the vehicle. This is terrible and primitive service quality considering all the various options of payment that was available without causing a complete disruption to my day. The relationship quality between the towing company and Miway was obviously very low.

I decided to cancel my service immediately and did so via their APP and i was done with Miway, or so i thought. As is the case with every ********* type of business I.E. any insurance provider, Miway wants another chance to try and keep you as a customer, so if you cancel (these are logical assumptions) someone gets notified and you should be receiving a call where you are told you can now pay less if you remain with them, in other words they have been charging you more than you could've been paying all along, and that is ********* business practice. I received a call that informed me someone will try and contact me but no one ever did. In my mind i was done with Miway. Eight months later i was suddenly debited the full outstanding amount for the eight months in two consecutive debits on two consecutive days.

It is now more than a month later and i still haven't received my refund. They tried to blame me initially because "cancel" on their app actually means "suspended" until someone has confirmed your cancellation. Yet again they do whats best for them and not for us. Theirway insurance.

Every phone call (there has been at least 3) thus far has been a promise to refund me only to be told the next time i call that it has not been requested. The amount of time i have to expend to sort out their mistakes, the interest i could have been earning on the outstanding amounts etc. is all lost and unproductive at a cost to me. Theirway insruance.

I might never see my money again so hopefully this review serves as caution for prospective Miway/Theirway clients. Be careful when that phone rings, don't be fooled by the cheaper option. They don't know how to provide insurance that's best for you because best for me would've not been to make me leave meetings and my place of work to jump in a truck with a stranger and to go draw money from an ATM. My way would have been to ensure my clients are paying the right amount from the start every month, thus if they cancel they cannot be offered a sudden decrease in premiums that technically must have been available all along if they can suddenly afford to offer it. My way would surely not have been to put cancelled customer on suspension and accidentally debit a large amount of money from him accepting that he will come complaining and then we can take a month before we sort it out (if it gets sorted out).

Fitting name for this company because it is their way. Named for them to be their way.
