Miway use unqualfied people to do assessments for earthquake damage
Our property suffered earthquake damage from the early morning of 11 June 2023. We received notification (only after I had to call and find out what the situation is) that your assessor is of the opinion it is not earthquake-related cracks but "settlement" cracks. The house was built at least 25 years ago. If settlement was to happen, it did happen years ago. Settlement cracks do not happen after 25 years. this kind of assessment is such an embarrassment to MiWay. I propose you get people who are qualified in earthquakes to do such assessments and not use people who don't have the foggiest.

It seems you and your team decided "Good day All, Based on the report we received from our Engineer, the damages are not due to a earthquake after discussing the matter with my manager based on our earlier conversation we won’t be able to assist. Should any of the parties involved not be happy with the assessment report from our engineer please refer the matter to our disputes department at ***. Thank you". Well well well, how extremely unprofessional of MiWay and SSE Maintenance that they are not able to distinguish between a "settlement" crack and an earthquake-related crack...
