MiWay - The most pathetic Insurance available (False advertising!)
I am disgusted with the service received by MiWay and their false advertising is appalling to say the least. I joined MiWay purely because the premiums were lower than my previous Insurer but this was my biggest mistake. My fridge broke during load shedding last year and I submitted a claim to MiWay. It was an unpleasant process and took more than a month and a lot of debating before my fridge was finally repaired. During April I received an email informing me that my premium increased. When I viewed the policy document I also noted that the excess on everything increased. When I called them I spoke to an agent who was of no assistance an avoided my issue with the excess being too high. I eventually dropped the call as I was at work and informed the Agent I was not happy. During June my father was in an accident (which was not his fault) and I did inform MiWay that he is the regular driver prior to the accident. I submitted a claim via the App but this claim also took months to resolve. Two weeks ago our geyser burst and I unfortunately had to submit a claim. I informed MiWay that we are unable to use the lights in one of the bedrooms and passage because of the water damage. I also informed them that I have to use a torch in the house which is an inconvenience. The geyser was fixed the same day but to date nothing else. I have had to contact MiWay every single time for updates. I called Yolandi and left a message for her to call me back. When I sent her an email the next day she told me that she is busy registering a theft claim. I then called the call centre and spoke to someone who told me that they've only received feedback from the Contractor last week Thursday and the repairs were approved but they can only help me the end of the month. I was furious and even had an argument with the contractor who clearly have no sense of Client service and how to speak to clients. The job was then cancelled. Yolandi then called me to inform me that there is a certain clause in the policy which states that should the damage be because of normal wear and tear, only R10000 will be covered and they are struggling to find a contractor who will repair all the damage at that cost. I was upset because if I was informed of this I never would have taken the offer. When I called client services I was advised that they cannot inform me of all the information in the policy, which I understood but is this not important information. To date I am still waiting... This morning I received a letter cautioning me that should I have become risk due to claiming frequently. I questioned this with the Insurer and was advised that the company made a loss because of me because the value of my claims exceeds the payments that I've made. I argued that the nature of my claims were unavoidable and out of my control. I even made an example and asked them if the house was damaged in a fire and the value of the damage is R500 000, would I be high risk because this is surely why we have insurance. I was then told that it's also about the frequency. This to me is contradictory with their reasoning. Should each case not be treated on it's own merits before these letters are issued? If I had to claim for driving into the gate all the time, sunglasses and things that could be avoided I would have understood. Instead I was sent from pillar to post when asking to speak to a manager. I was even told by.... That he reports to no manager but HR. I was even reminded that they run a company and also need to make a profit. I could write so much more of the anguish I was caused by MiWay but the space is not enough. I wish I could attach recordings of the calls because I would like everyone to know how inconsiderate MiWay actually is and therefore I mentioned the false advertising. I suggest they spend less money on advertising and concentrate more on clients who pays for a service and do not receive what they've actually paid for.
