MiWay sends *********** plumbers who put pets lives at risk and then don't take accountability

I had a leak in my bathroom in the toilet where the toilet connected to the pipes. I called MiWay's emergency assistance and they dispatched a plumber. The plumber only arrived at around 19:00 and clearly wanted to leave. They said all they needed to do was put putty around the leak. I asked 2 very relevant questions. Namely 1) would this be harmful to animals and 2) with the leak continuing wouldn't it keep the putty wet and it wouldn't dry.

Their response was that this wasn't harmful to animals especially once dry and the leak wouldn't be a problem.

Within 48 hours, the putty hadn't yet dried and fell off onto the floor and before I could stop her, my young dog ate the putty that had fallen off. I called the vet and had to rush her to an emergency clinic at 21:00 to get her to throw up and evaluated. This cost over R1,400 due to the time as well as the emergency status.

I asked MiWay to at least please cover the cost of this because it was a direct cause of the plumbers that they sent. I was told they would investigate.

In the meantime, I still had a leak, and it took 2 weeks, and 3 separate plumbers to come out to eventually fix this leak.

However, it has now been 4 weeks and the only time I get any feedback is when I phone MiWay directly. I have had 3 managers promise to phone me with an update and have yet to receive a single call back.

When I insisted to speak to a manager and would not wait for a call back, I was eventually put through to a manager who basically told me that the plumbers that caused the life threatening situation for my dog said they didn't want to pay so they're not liable and I'm on my own.

I have been trying to explain that this situation was a direct result of ***********, dishonest (or poorly trained) plumbers that they dispatched into my home. I wonder and fear what would have happened if instead of a dog, this was a baby or a young child.

Would MiWay have acutally taken it more seriously, or with the same seriousness. Both are concerning outcomes.

While the MiWay service has been decent, their response to this event has been absolutely shocking and could easily have resulted in the death of my young dog had I not been following her around the house in an attempt to avoid just this kind of scenario. It seems apparent that they don't take responsibility for the actions of the service providers they send onsite.

So what guarantee do we have that the service providers MiWay sends to us based on the trust we put in them are not going to harm our properties, family members and pets?

We are really sorry to hear that our service provider has left you feeling let down. This is not the kind of service we aim to deliver. We have passed your comments on to our Claims team and someone will be in touch to discuss what happened in more detail.

I received 1 - ONE - call since this. No follow ups and definitely no resolution. She discussed what my cover is and said she needed to discuss this and would come back to me. Absolutely no remedial activity has taken place.

I honestly get the feeling MiWay is just hoping I'll forget this.

I've given MiWay so many chances to rectify this situation or at least try to recover the situation and I've heard and received absolutely NO FEEDBACK.

And still no reply - clearly MiWay has either forgotten about this, has stopped monitoring it or have just decided to ignore it.
