Miway promotes multi vehicle accidents

1. Miway fails to answer my questions on the online service regarding your terms and conditions. I have been told by Sanet Jacobs verbally that my assessment has been done and if there are any additional issues it will be picked up while they're busy fixing with my car. I was not happy with this as I want a proper assessment done prior to anyone fixing my car. I was also told if my alignment and balancing was out, it was probably incorrect prior to the accident. I have done my alignment and balancing a couple of days before the accident and I still have the receipts. So who is to judge that my alignment and balancing was out prior to the accident and since the accident had a big impact on my suspension I fail to understand how this is possible. I went online to find out more about this in the terms and conditions and could not find it. I then went to the online chat service since I'm already online to get a link, the person online has not given me any answers and said someone will phone me. Well I've taken the time to write this and no one has phoned me.

2. Last week Wednesday I drove on the highway with my wife to Natal for our first anniversary around 4:30 to 5am m in the morning. A big dog ran in front of me and I couldn't swerve or break (not supposed to as I am on the highway at 120km/h) and ran the dog over. It damaged my bumper and radiator and I'm sure my suspension as well. I drove 10km or less to the closest garage and on the way it started overheating. We were very emotional, we’re we are both huge animal *****s. I phoned Miway and waited a couple of hours for the people to come and tow the car. While they were physically loading the car on the truck bed a lady from Miway phoned, I explaine what happened and that we were on our way for our very first anniversary and started informing me of all the excess amounts. I spoke to her about my courtesy car and then she rambled the costs of this as well. She didn’t ask us if we were okay at all and I pointed it out to her that she didn’t try to put me at ease after driving over a living animal and taking its life and she only cared about telling me how much everything will be. She also said it’s a single vehicle accident and there is an additional excess. I said so if I drove over the dog and connected with another car it would be better for me. She said yes then there would not be an additional excess. I was shocked to say the least and dropped the phone. You are literally telling me I have to swerve out for animals of brake for animals on the high way and cause more serious accidents. On Friday they phoned my wife and asked her to tell them what happened, on our 1st anniversary getaway you phone my wife and make her relive the experience and could not have waited after we get back. Thank you for ruining our anniversary! On Saturday someone else phoned and again I pointed out the additional excess and she also confirmed that it would’ve been cheaper if I connected with another car as well. Seriously? Who in their right mind promotes additional accidents and possible lives taken to save costs? It just doesn’t make sense. Now I’m trying to find out what the total damage is to my car and I’m told that only while fixing my car, if they pick something else up they will add it. But I want to know the entire damage to my car. I’m not a 100% convinced that I want to have my car repaired via Miway and I need to know the entire damage to my car but I’m told some of the damages they might only pick up while fixing the car. I said to detail check the suspension since I believe it can’t be fine and to check the engine as it over heated. Sanet (claims) wants to find out from her manager if they can waive the additional excess but this is now since yesterday and it’s afternoon now. I have not received any complete answers justified by your terms and conditions. I need to make decisions on what to do with my car and I need to make a decision whether Miway is the best option for me. I’m still not happy with two people telling me it would have been better for me if I connected with another vehicle after I drove over the animal as I would not have had an additional excess. This indirectly makes the life of an animal insignificant and secondly you’re promoting accidents since single vehicle accidents have no exceptions. I’m still deciding where I need to go with this information based on the outcome with this claim.

Let down is an understatement. I'm not entirely sure you understood my complaint reading your response. To help you understand: 1. I feel you're promoting multi vehicle accidents (It's a serious allegation but go listen to the voice recordings) 2. I feel you're not assessing my car's damage as per your terms and conditions. 3. I feel you lack sense of urgency as I'm waiting to find out what is happening with the additional excess since yesterday. There should not be such a big delay. 4. I feel you ruined our 1st anniversary by having my wife relive the traumatic incident halfway through our anniversary getaway and I have mentioned to the person in the intitial phone call about my anniversary getaway. No thought process goes into when and why you contact customers and what the impact is. We will never forget this incident and you needed to remind my wife while we're trying to have a bit of an anniversary getaway. No compassion at all. 5. Yes I do I feel you lack compassion as the person in the initial call didn't bother to ask us if we're okay after an accident before I pointed it out to her. You're only worried about the money you'll be getting as her most important, leading statements were the excess amounts. 6. Your online service did not answer one question I had and kept on saying they will refer someone to contact me (did not even happen yet.) (I even made a copy of the conversation with the online "print your conversation" option. ) I have had no issues with Miway until now. Oh, by the way when you say "shortly". I guess it means what...before close of business today? I don't see anyone trying to contact me and you've responded more than an hour ago.

So the agent you have to phone me back is the same person I complained about initially? Come on. Seriously? I do not want to speak to Lebohang. How much thought went into the decision to let her phone me to apologise?

Good Evening, look I received a better response from the person(manager) I spoke with now and obviously had a better understanding of procedures in place which I can appreciate. I appreciate she could respond to me logically as nothing made sense until I spoke with her. She understoon the procedures well enough to explain it to me so I could understand it.. I will await her feedback tomorrow at 3pm.

Mandisa (I think that's her name) said she will phone me back at 3pm today. After 3pm I phoned to get feedback and was told she is busy on the line with a customer. I requested that she phones me back as promised. I phoned in now at 5pm and am told she knocked off. I am actually not sure now how I must feel about this. I thought I'd get feedback like she said I would. I thought my ordeal was in capable hands, and I'm not being dealt with in a professional manner. What am I supposed to do....or think?

The morning after Mandisa was supposed to phone me back. No call. I'm sure a phone call would've been better even if there was no update, just to let the customer know "Good afternoon, I know I said I will phone you back hence me calling you now and I haven't forgotten about you but I must apologise but I'm not completely done compiling the information required for a proper, informed response and have been delayed with some external factors, which is not an excuse but it remains the reason for the delay. If you don't mind waiting till tomorrow at "x" 'o clock, I'll really be grateful. Please feel rest assured, you are in capable hands and Miway won't let you down, you are our priority." Any response similar to this would've been accepted by me as I understand that delays happen. I am a retail manager of a very large store and I experience delays everyday but I make sure I communicate delays so I do not understand non-communication because I make sure I phone my customers if I can't commit to a time, prior to the commitment and I normally make the phone call myself. Set a reminder or something, but don't just tell a customer you'll phone back and never do. This aggrevates the customer and it will result in the customer doubting your integrity. I guess I will have to phone again later again. Put yourself in my shoes, do you at the end trust people if you feel like you're not a priority. Would you feel any different than I do now?

I spoke with Michelle Klopper from Miway this morning. She was eager to put me at ease, to make sure I know she understands how important our first anniversary was. . Upon further investigation which didn't take long, she has waived the additional excess and explained in what circumstances this occurs. She understands Lebohang who initially dealt with me needs on the job coaching/guidance on how to get the correct legally stipulated message across and to connect with the customer on a personl level at the same time. I do this in my own retail store. Complaints are necessary to improve yourself, but one should also take firm action after the first complaint and not allow it to escalate like my complaint did. I can't get a do- over on our first anniversary. It is what it is and there will be more, and they'll only get better from here on. Michelle made an extra effort to try and make up for our first ruined anniversary which I appreciate dearly. It's not much, but the thought process behind her attempt to make up for it that shows me she understands and since she has to get authorisation for monetary decisions, indirectly it's Miway who understands, at the end of the day they employed her and allow her to think out of the box. Last night I had a big urge to go to another insurance, there are so many insurance companies and I already wrote down which companies I'm going to request quotes from. Michelle's response today made me decide to give Miway another chance. Thank you.
