MIWAY LOOKING FOR REASONS NOT TO PAYOUT

10th December 2020 my home which I've been living in for the last 22 years burnt down to the ground with nothing to salvage.

The only items I have left is what I wore to work that morning which was overalls and work boots. After reporting the claim to MiWay for my contents they required a list of all the items that was in the house. After many hours of doing so with a call centre agent going through item per item that I am claiming for, I was contacted by an assessor who made arrangements to come to the property.

After noticing that my 3 bedroom house was completely burnt down and the floors were covered with roof tiles, burnt wood trusses and other rubble, he insisted to go through house and look for items that survived the fire. The fire was so great that everything in the house literally went up in smoke from couches to beds to appliances there's nothing left but the gentleman insisted there will still be remains, he mentioned that he will need a team to come in and dig through the rubble to find remains of items.

I said that wouldn't be a problem and I'd even give them a key to come in and do so. Today marks 3 weeks since the fire and it seems to me MIWAY is looking for ways to not pay my claim.

I'm currently renting a house on my own capacity to safe guard myself and my dogs:

I don't have a bed to sleep on, I don't have a couch to sit on nor a TV or a fridge to even store food as well as all my other luxuries I've lost. Taken into consideration the amount of items I've lost in the fire from the sunroom, the lounge, the dinning room, the kitchen, the laundry room and the 3 bedrooms MIWAY seem like they don't want to pay out my maximum cover as my policy states.

I have absolutely nothing left from my house they should compensate me fully; I mean that's why we take insurance so that in these cases we covered.

At the moment even the clothes I'm wearing was given to me and I feel by MIWAY looking for ways to not pay out or not pay out my full maximum cover is inhumane.

I have friends and family who are also with MIWAY and after this experience I’m unsure how they will react to the hardships faced with Miway together with the ongoing trauma we’ve experienced this year.

Things are supposed to go smoothly for you but Miway create more hassles and stress when you already have so much to deal with after your tragic Incident.

This is just the first review. I intend on contacting my family attorney who's currently handling my late dad’s estate (My Dad passed away in May 2020 from Covid-19) so this has been a tragic year for my family.

We will then contact the insurance ombudsman and post this on social media and inform the public what exactly MIWAY does when you’re in need of a claim after happily taking the monthly premium (for years) but when you need a claim it becomes a huge problem.
