MiWay Insurance will destroy your name

I do not know where to start! My claim has been rejected and I am accused of acting dishonestly because I was not aware of a TV that was ****** in my place. The emotions that are running through me are just horrific to fathom.

My house was an absolute mess at the time when the police came into my place after the burglary. I was completely unaware of the TV that was ****** from the closet in the bedroom. When the police and other residents came to my house and I gave them a statement about what was ******, I did not include this TV because I was not aware that it was ******. When I became aware that it was ******, the police and the other residents of the complex were gone. I was actually on the phone with MiWay looking for the box for my ****** iMac computer. They are saying that I have acted dishonestly! I wish you could see the tears in my eyes. I was completely honest in this claim. 100% honest. I had initially reported that my iPad was ******, when I later on found it, I informed MiWay about this iPad. I had thought that my other shoes and Bogart shirts were ******, I later on found out these items in the house and I reported this to MiMway. Mind you, the total value of the items which I thought were ****** but later found them were over R15k. Because of a R6k TV, which I wasn't aware that it was ****** at the time when the police were there, I am judged to be dishonest. WOW!!! My ICT profile destroyed. Thank you MiWay.

A week or two ago, Outsurance called me looking to offer me an obligation free quotation for my vehicle and see if they can beat my current premiums. They told me that they cannot give me a quotation for insurance because of my so-called finding with MiWay. In other words, I cannot get insurance anymore. My life has been shattered. Be careful who you insure with. My friends and family tell me that Santam, Discovery and Outsurance are much better insurers. They might cost a bit more but you are certain that your name will not be destroyed like mine. This might even affect my job and credit profile. Who knows?

I have gone through their dispute department and the rejection still stands. My last leg to stand on is the Ombudsman and my legal counsel to help me resolve this matter. They are now looking for evidence to prove that the TV was in the house at the time of the burglary. Is this even possible? How do I prove that the TV was in the house? My gosh!

It will not help. They are riding on the fact that I cannot prove that I had the TV in my place at the time of loss. So, I am stuck. How does anyone prove that they had a TV at the time of loss? I do not have CCTV at my place to show what the ******* got away with. The TV was in my closet at the time of loss. It was not something that I looked at often. How in the world do I prove that I had it? What is worse is that now my ICT record is destroyed. I cannot take insurance. Congratulations and welldone. I hope Roxanne and her team gets a fat bonus for destroying my life. I did nothing wrong here.

We've heard back from our disputes team and unfortunately as this has been referred to the Ombudsman for Short-term insurance, we are unable to assist. Please refer any further queries you have, directly to them. Thanks!
