MiWay Insurance Refuses to Pay Out for TV Damages — Citing "Wear and Tear" After Clear Accident
I’m writing this to share my incredibly disappointing experience with MiWay Insurance — a company that promises to provide cover and peace of mind, but when it matters most, seems more interested in finding excuses than honoring their obligations.
Recently, while doing renovations in my room, I accidentally fell onto my television. The TV, which had been working perfectly up until that moment, stopped functioning immediately after the incident. As a paying customer with accidental damage cover included in my policy, I did what any responsible person would do — I submitted a claim.
After waiting for MiWay to assess the situation, I was shocked to be told that the damage to my TV was not covered. Their reasoning? That there was "no visible physical damage" and that the TV stopped working due to "wear and tear."
Let me be very clear:
My TV worked perfectly fine before the fall.
The only reason it no longer turns on is because of the fall — a direct result of an accident.
I am paying for accidental damage cover, which should protect me in exactly these types of situations.
MiWay's refusal to pay out my claim is nothing short of unacceptable. Instead of investigating the internal damage or taking customer input seriously, they’ve chosen to hide behind vague, dismissive technicalities. It feels like a deliberate strategy to avoid paying out legitimate claims, and frankly, it calls into question the value of having insurance with them at all.
To anyone considering MiWay as their insurer, I would strongly caution you to think twice. When things go wrong — which is the whole reason we take out insurance in the first place — you may find yourself in the same frustrating position I’m in now: paying for cover that’s worth nothing when it matters most.
Unless this issue is resolved fairly and urgently, I will be continuing to share my experience across all platforms, including social media and HelloPeter. Customers deserve to know the truth about how MiWay treats its clients.
If you've had similar experiences, I encourage you to speak up. It's time insurance companies are held accountable for the service they promise, but too often fail to deliver.
