MIWAY Insurance Company that does not PAY!! Moving to OUTsurance or KING PRICE

I own a Toyota Corolla and use it for Uber. All policy details were up to date.

3 March 2017, my driver was hijacked by 4 armed ******s. He was kidnapped for 4 hours, while they were trying to strip the car for the tracker and ***** any other items and money from him, in his personal capacity. During the times that we was not co-operating he would get tasered.

By some miracle and God's favour, he was released unharmed, but stripped down to his boxer shorts having to stop cars on the side of the road for any assistance.

I received the call from SAPS Cullinan, who told me my driver was at the police station and has been Hijacked. This was 1.10am, I immediately called my tracker company BIDtrack who recovered the car later that morning at 04.20am.

So, after all of that... I reported my claim to MiWAY on 7 March 2017, the Tuesday afterwards, because we needed time to just calm down after that ordeal. After countless calls and follow ups on my end, they finally came back with an answer on 31 March 2017 that they would not be paying the claim - their reason - do to non-disclosure/ material misrepresentation.

What does that even mean, I asked?

The claims assessor, explained that on inception of the policy 1 December 2016, I estimated that the car might travl 1 ********** km per month. This is an estimation as that was my first month that I was going to start using the car anyway for UBER. Prior to that, I used it for personal use.

Upon the time of the claim, I asked BIDtracker for my tracker reports for MiWAY as requested, which could show the kilometers travelled. When calculated the average was approx 4000km per month.

Which I also only became aware of, when they requested the tracker reports. The fact that they call it non-disclosure/material misrepresentation - like I had this informed prior to reporting the claim. So, without those reports, I was not even checking my odometer because the driver has the car on a fulltime basis. Secondly, what has the travelling different kilometers have to do with the actual incident of a hijacking?

So, if my vehicle gets ****** or some sort of environmental damage - the reason for not paying is that the estimated kilometers where not updated?

I still don't understand what this has to do with the incident.

MiWAY has revoked my policy and will not pay even a cent of the claim. Management then sends a junior cliams assessor to explain why they did not accept the claim, and his arms are tied because "he is only doing his job".

The assessed loss, is approximately R79 000 because the hijackers stripped the vehicle looking for tracker and taking valuable parts. I am left with all the costs, my driver is emotionally traumatised due to the ordeal and MiWAY says due to non-disclosure they will not be assisting.

For anybody looking for insurance, do not go for my way - they will find any irrevelant reason why not to pay!

Don't believe those ads - MIWAY DOES NOT PAY!!!
