MiWay false excess disclaimer and abuse of customer trust
In the initial consultation with MiWay to get me to change car insurers, I told the consultant that I have a R0 excess with my current insurer. She changed the excess to R0 and gave me the higher premium. But failed to mention that there is an additional single vehicle excess of +/- R3000 that still applies. Secondly the premium quoted was +/- R698 but deducted amount was +-/R785. A month later I get a call from another consultant wanting to check that I understand the additional excess stipulations, at which point I refused to accept because this should have been disclosed in the very beginning. 5 weeks later and dealing with multiple people from MiWay, from being told that the overcharged premiums (difference) can’t be refunded because the documentation emailed to me was at the higher premiums and having to challenge that decision. To MiWay refusing to budge on changing the single vehicle excess to R0. I chose a R0 excess, so that I don't have to worry if anything happens during the month when i'm strap for cash (peace of mind). This is a gross abuse of customer trust.
