Miway claim process
I was involved in an accident on the 19 may 2018 where i bumbed into someone's car at the back. I lodged a claim with miway insurance which was responded on the 21 may 2018. Since that day I have not being able to rest emotionally including the trauma of the accident itself but i am thankful no one got injured.
As a loyal custumer of miway insurance that pays his premium every month I was stress free because I expected miway to keep their end of the deal. The claim process then started not knowing that it was the start of a nightmare.
I provided all necessary information of the accident and the parties involved as follows (1).Police case number which was filled by metro police at the scene of the accident(2).Tow truck contact details (3). Othe driver's contact and address details (4). Passengers contact details(before and during the accident)(5). I have provided a statement telephonically prior to assessment interview.
I later received an email that was saying my car was a write-off and miway will be towing it to their compound. The communication added by saying that the following will be needed from me (1).Registration papers(2).Settlement later from finance house(3)Spare keys.
Miway assessor then contacted me to come and interview me and take spare keys with him on the 29 may 2018. On the 29 I met with the assessor at the location where i stay and that was the beggining of the real nightmare. He interviewed me almost for an hour mostly about the information prior to the accident but not really the accident itself. At the end of the interview he asked to see my phones,i firstly showed him the old Nokia 201 which he ddnt hav interest in seeing it. He then asked for my other phone and asked to see it and it gave him not knowing what he was the reason. He then went through my phone, when i asked him what was he doing on my phone ,he responded while busy on the phone by saying he was showing me the maps. This was done without my consent. He later **** that the consent paper that i signed giving him access to police files was the one that gave him the consent.
The assessor continued by treatening me to cancel the claim saying if it does not get approved it will have negative finacial implication on my future. He also added by saying that if I cancel he will speak to his boss to cover storage costs on my behalf. He was suppose to have taken back the spare keys with him which he did not. Without reasonable doubt this clearly shows the motive he had towards me cancelling the claim.
I then send complaints about the assessor to miway complaints which was later attended by his supervisor. It was even more victimizing realising that the supervisor was not actually attending the complain but doing a follow up on the assessors report.
Since then they have been pressurising me to sign the beacon and billing on my two cellphones to acquire information from the 18th to 19th of the accident, more than 2 and half hours prior to the accident. To me the information requested is not pertinent to the claim as i hav provided a mouth full of information even in writing.
The assessor and his supervisor has since made it clear through their actions that they are trying very hard to find grounds of rejecting my claim. The have also send me a letter of reasonable request on the 4th june that state i hav till friday the 8th to comply or they will reject my claim. Getting information prior to the accident through my outgoing and incoming calls including messages is not a reasonable request to me based on the following:(1) They are acting in bad faith and requesting information which is not pertinent to my claim(2)The request is also invading my privacy by giving them access to view and lesten to my private conversation which does not involve the accident.(3)The have clearly shown that they are trying to find grounds of rejecting my claim since i hav provided all necessary information concerning accident.
The claiming process has since been a difficult part and emotionally draining. One will never expect to pay willingly but expect to be compensated through this difficult and long process. I appeal to miway to intervene since i have realised that the other parties have since victimised me like a ******** who has ******ed someone whereas I am just a loyal custumer. Your intervention will be highly appreciated throughout this nightmare. Thank you
