MiWay Claim
I was involved in an accident on the 24th of January. I submitted a claim via the app the following day. The car was assessed and I was told to bring the car in only on the 1st of March. Because of Covid and restrictions at some places, I sort of understood the time frame. I did point out to the gentleman that came to assess the car, that there's a funny petrol-like smell when the car is idling when you're standing on the outside and the car has got a stutter, which he said it is misfiring. The engine light is also on, I did inform Miway about these issues.
On the 1st of March I took the car in and paid the excess, I got the car back on the 12th, I am very happy with the work done by the panelbeaters. but they told me they were never instructed to send the car for mechanical or electrical tests on the vehicle. When I called them again they told me I must take the car to be diagnosed on my account, because according to the pictures they saw, the damage was minor, the Miway agent went on to say that they need conclusive evidence that the damage was accident related, should that report prove that it is, they will send an assessor again to validate that report, which confuses me as to why they cannot do the test in the 1st place. But i kept on telling them that my car was never misfiring and the engine light was never on. The last service invoice, dated 20-11-2020 shows no engine light and no misfiring. But I feel Miway are going out of their way not to pay for the damages on my car. The car is parked in the garage now as I am afraid to drive it like that, We're nearing 2 months now since the accident and I have to take taxis to work while they receive a premium each and every month
