Midway hikes premium due to accident claim, where I was not even wrong!

Midway has, without even consultation increased the insurance cover for my car by R400 just because I submitted a claim, a case where I was bumped by a car from the back. Am I now paying for someone bumping me? Is it my fault that I got bumped? Is that how insurance work? Did I create the risk myself just when people are reckless on the road?
