I FEEL DONE IN
So I had an accident on the 9th July 2024. The vehicle that knocked into my stationary vehicle is a company vehicle. I reported my claim and was asked to go get a quotation. This I duly did and sent through to Miway. I was then contacted by a Repairer (160 kilometres away) to ask if they could order the parts as they had been allocated the repair by Miway. My reply was a firm “NO”. Bear in mind this repairer had not even had sight of the vehicle. I am then told that My Repairer, the most reputable in this little town that I have a valid quote from is not on the Miway Panel. I then say alright pay me out and I will give it to the same repairer and ofcourse pay in my excess. I then get a disclaimer form indicating an amount of 22k opposed to the claim of 49k (of course minus my excess of R7 500). I indicated to Miway and their legal department that I was not happy about this. I then get phoned by Miway and told that my Repairer is not VW approved and my warranty will fall away. My warranty with VW has zero to do with Miway. I am also then told that the bumper that a new one was claimed for can be fixed. I am talking here about a vehicle that has 32k on the clock. So Miway is prepared to have me with a bumper that is cut and joined something so cosmetic for a beautiful, well kept vehicle. I am Further told that the desktop assessors have looked at the vehicle and this is their quotation. My question to you Miway is if this was the situation why ask me to go and get a quotation? Now according to a reputable repairer I already know what the damages to my vehicle is worth. Why should I now settle for less????????? You should have just said send me the photos and we will make an assessment (at the desktop mind you) do not waste my time to go and get a quotation. My further question is I was told in a copy of an email sent to the other side “My client will be claiming from your insurer and our legal team will be assisting her in her pursuit” if that is indeed so why is Miway trying to cut corners and give their client a shoddy cut n join repair job? I also wish to point out that I have been a Miway client for many years. I have my vehicle, my home and its contents insured with you. Until very recently I actually had 2 cars insured with you. My son has 3 vehicles insured with yourselves. It makes one beg the question is Miway really interested in looking after their loyal and faithful clients??
I also wish to point out that even though I was told I would be notified who the Miway approved Repairer was close to me this has still not happened. I also have a Policy with Miway Life and I am wondering if my beneficiaries are going to have the run around when that day comes.
