Excessive Premium Increase

I am extremely dissatisfied by my annual premium increase which was increased by four times my monthly premium, which was deducted on the 1st of April, without prior communication or schedule update. This brought an unexpected debit order of R4749.00 for a single vehicle for April. After enquiring the amount with a call center agent, he basically stated that this is the way it is and there is nothing he can do. That the system generates these numbers. I dont believe that for a second! After further questioning he said it’s based on a claim I have done last year. This particular claim was supposed to be based on a third party claim as the cause of the accident was NOT my fault and I still have photo evidence for this, which miway declined at the time of the claim. According to the agent, I’m still being penalized for this amount, even though the accident was not my fault.

So my question now is, why would I as the client be penalized for something that was out of my control?? Is this the way MiWay treats its customers? When I laid the claim after the accident I requested help on whether I need to lay a 3rd party claim against the other party's insurance or do it through miway. The miway agent at the time advised me to do it through miway and then their legal department will resolve the claim with the 3rd party. Again after this, a miway legal representative phoned me to get my side of the accident and after requesting again what the next steps are, they advised me that miway will investigate and find a guilty party on conclusion of the investigation. So again, if I, the client of miway, get penalized, then what is the reason for even investigating who's fault it is in the first place???

I feel that I am being treated unfairly in this situation and refuse to pay another cent over the agreed schedule that I have with me (I have yet to receive the updated one). If this is not resolved by the end of this week, I will lay a complaint with the ombudsman for unfair treatment and cancel my policy. I will also take all my other business policies somewhere else before this abuse continues as well as take to social media. This is unacceptable!
