excess raised by over 1000 without my permission

This is the second time I can remember that this has happened. My excess was raised without my consent and last time this happened I explicitly advised the insurer that it cannot be raised without my consent. In any case, I have just cancelled my insurance I think enough is enough! I found a much cheaper quote half the excess, more cover and when I called to advise I was told to call back and see if my insurance could be made any cheaper, that was last week Thursday! After about 5 call me's later I think something is pretty clear here.
