Long story short: I submitted a hail damage claim, was booked for assessment, and thereafter appointed a repairer. about a week after booking my car in at the appointed repairer, I was notified by email that: "As soon as all of the necessary parts for your vehicle have been received then the repair process can start.". another week passes and I get a call from Miway to inform me that I have to sign a "standard" "DISCLAIMER FOR REPAIR OF VEHICLE AT REPAIRER OF OWN CHOICE". A month later I get a call from their repairer to collect my car, I get there & no repair work whatsoever has been done on it. They give me a payout telling me to go get it fixed wherever I can and not expect any guarantees on payouts if the claim includes repairs on the repaired areas of the vehicle. I had no intention of using a repairer other than one recommended by Miway. If the qualified repairer Miway recommended couldn't fix it, how would I be able to do so with no automotive repair experience whatsoever? on top of that, my premium was increased from R984.36 to R1 427.93 (that's a 45% increase). I subsequently canceled my insurance with Miway. Dreadfully appalling.
