I would suggest Miway rethink the packages they offer owners with older cars. I was involved in an accident where I was not at fault , waiting at a stop street and a bakkie plowed into me while I was making the turn. I also obtained an injury , concussion and a hurt shoulder. The whole ordeal was traumatic. What worsened the trauma was the payout of 6000 on my Toyota tazz 2004. I cant afford to have my car written off so was given the choice between that and a buyback. The supposed retail value is 36000 where these models sell for 90000 to 100000 sometimes. I had to search through tons of fine print to find out what this supposed retail value entails. I spoke to a few panelbeaters who refuse to believe that I got such a low payout. They insisted usually the payout is 20000 on a model like mine. I accept this payout Miway but thanks for doubling my trauma. I might have only been on the Policy a year or so, but I think all of us in SA can agree the roads are dangerous. Insurance is supposed to offer peace of mind I did not imagine I could rather have made my own savings account and paid the premiums into it rather for any future incidents on our hazardous roads. Coz im left having to carry the cost of my repairs anyway. Very very disappointing. Definitely what cant be considered a comprehensive insurance package at all.
