Dissapointing service from MiWay and Star Centre

I am extremely disappointed with the poor service I am currently experiencing from both MiWay Insurance and Star Centre Panelbeaters in East London. My vehicle was involved in an accident in March this year. I submitted my claim to MiWay. The claim was approved, and Star Centre was appointed to carry out the repairs after they provided a quote and confirmed they could complete the job. Sadly, this has not materialized. The delay stems from the unavailability of a rear bumper for my Mazda 2. According to a formal letter from the Mazda dealership in East London, the part is unavailable in the country, and there is still no estimated time of arrival. MiWay now claims they’ve fulfilled their obligations by processing the claim and refer me to a clause stating they are not liable for parts delays. Meanwhile, for over three months, all I’ve received are repeated “updates” confirming the part is still on backorder—with no progress whatsoever. Out of frustration, I requested that MiWay cancel the repair authorization and instead pay out the assessed damage amount so I could seek alternatives. This request was blocked after Star Centre informed MiWay that once a repair is booked, it cannot be cancelled. So the question remains: how long must I wait? Three months have already passed, and there is still no resolution or timeline. It is simply unacceptable to expect any client to wait indefinitely while being bounced between insurer and panelbeater. MiWay is failing in their duty to act in the best interests of their client. Rather than seeking a practical solution or advocating for me, they are hiding behind fine print. If a part has no ETA, there should be a limit—and an alternative should be offered. This entire experience has shattered my confidence in both MiWay and Star Centre. They appear content to leave customers stranded, with no accountability and no urgency to resolve the matter. I strongly urge others to read their policy documents carefully and ask the hard questions when selecting both an insurer and a panelbeater. Otherwise, you may find yourself, like me, stuck in limbo with no help in sight. I will certainly think twice before ever relying on MiWay Insurance or Star Centre Panelbeaters again.
